Sesame Bread Rings
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups luke warm water
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. oil
2 1/2 tsp. dry yeast
3/4 cup sesame seeds
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the sesame seeds.
Knead by hand for around 10 minutes, adding more flour if needed.
When the dough is ready (soft but not sticky), cover and let it rise for approx. 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Knead the dough again and divide into 8 portions.
Roll each portion into a rectangle and then from the long side start to roll the dough as you would a jelly roll.
Form into a ring shape and press the ends together.
Dip each ring carefully in a bowl of warm water then into the dish of sesame seeds to cover them on both sides.
Place the rings on a baking sheet and let rise for a further 10 - 15 minutes.
In the meantime, preheat the oven to 450 degrees F and place a wide oven proof dish full of water at the bottom of the oven to create steam which will give better results.
Bake for approx. 30 - 35 minutes until they are golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
