Scalloped Potatoes


  • 1 lb potatoes
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Gruyere, Cheddar, Mozzerella or Pepper Jack cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg


  1. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.

  2. In a large saucepan, combine the milk and potatoes and bring to a boil. Lower the heat, cover and simmer until the potatoes are tender.

  3. Grease the baking dish with butter.

  4. Arrange the potatoes in the baking dish, season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and dot with the remaining butter.

  5. Pour the milk and sprinkle cheese on top of the potatoes.

  6. Bake in a 325F preheated oven until it turns to light golden brown and the milk has been absorbed.

  7. Remove from oven, serve with roasted or grilled meat or chicken.
