Hummus bil tahini, حمص بالطحينة

Hummos Tahini


  • 1 cup dried chick peas, soaked, cooked and drained
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • Juice of 1 lemon, adjust to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • Salt, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Paprika or cayenne pepper, for garnish
  • Parsley, for garnish


  1. Soak, cook and drain the chick peas.

  2. In a food processor, combine the chick peas (reserving about 2 tbsp. for garnish), tahini, lemon juice and garlic and process until you get a very smooth paste, adding some of the water you cooked the chick peas in if needed.

  3. Spread on a plate, garnish with paprika or cayenne pepper for color and sprinkle with some chopped parsley and the reserved whole chick peas.

  4. Top with olive oil and serve with toasted pita bread cut into wedges.
