Cabbage Stew


Ingredients

  • 6 cups shredded cabbage (1/2 medium cabbage)
  • 8 oz ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • Salt, to taste

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, brown the ground meat, season with the spices and salt.  Add the minced garlic and continue cooking until the meat is fully cooked.

  2. Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook until wilted then stir in the tomato paste.  Cover with water and bring to a boil, lower the heat to medium and simmer covered for 15 - 20 minutes.

  3. Serve with rice.
