Cracked Wheat Pilaf, برغل بالشعيرية

Burghul Pilaf


  • 1 cup Coarse Cracked Wheat (Burghul, bulgur) (No. 3)
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp. vermicelli noodles
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup water


  1. Rinse and drain the cracked wheat.
  2. Heat oil in saucepan, stir fry the vermicelli noodles. 
  3. Stir in the cracked wheat for a few minutes, until it is coated with the olive oil.

  5. When the water level reduces to below the cracked wheat, lower the heat and simmer until the water is absorbed.
  6. Serve hot with grilled or roasted meat or chicken.
